Hi everyone! For the first post of the week, I'm doing the Fantasy Tropes book tag! I came across this on And On She Reads, one of my favourite book blogs! Credit to One's Peculiar for creating the tag. I know I've been doing a lot of book tags, I promise there's discussions and reviews coming up as well! Let me know in the comments if you like the book tags and want more or would prefer some more variety. Now let's get into it!
1) The Lost Princess
A book/series you lost interest in halfway through.
I lost interest in the Remnant Chronicles halfway through. I still finished the trilogy, but it was a drag for sure. Thank god the spin off duology Dance of Thieves was super good to make up for it!
2) The Knight in Shining Armour
A hyped book/series that you were swept up by
From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout had like a wave of hype on booktok, so I read it because it sounded right up my alley. And I was not prepared for the obsession that set in. I finished the 3 books online in a week, I literally devoured them and stayed in my room reading like a crazy person. That series is just so soo good. Can't wait to reread it when the next Flesh and Fire book + War of Two Queens come out!
3) The Wise Old Wizard
An author that amazes you with his/her writing.
I'm going to go with two for this one. Firstly, V. E. Schwab. I've only read one of her books, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and it was so beautifully written I just wanted to memorise every inch of that gorgeous writing. 😍The second author is Bex-Chan. She writes dramione fanfiction, but she writes so fricking beautifully that I would pay money to see her published. Her fic Isolation brought me to tears 😭
4) The Maiden in Distress
An undervalued character you wish has a bigger storyline.
I love the Darkling from the grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo, he is not really undervalued, but I would love to learn about him even more. He is THE most beautifully written villain ever! I love him so much 🥰
5) The Magical Sword
A magical ability/item you wished authors used less.
Honestly, there's no magical ability/item that I'm tired of. So far I've read a good variety with few overlaps. I think authors are pretty creative with their magic concepts.
6) The Mindless Villain
A phrase you cannot help but roll your eyes at.
"She peered up at him through her lashes."
I don't know why this annoys me so much, it just does. I can't imagine this overused sentence without like cringeing. It sounds fine in writing, but try to actually do it in the mirror, it makes me look like a toad. 🐸 Or maybe that's just me 😅
7) The Untamed Dragon
A magical creature you wish you had as a pet.
Both of my options are from Harry Potter🪄lol. Firstly I would love to have a Hedwig, a cute snowy owl with a sassy attitude, who can deliver my post! 🦉 I also wouldn't mind a pheonix like Fawkes with magic healing tears for when I get a papercut.
8) The Chosen One
A book/series you will always root for.
I know I've said The Selection a hundred times, but really!! I'm always going to stand by it, no matter who much hate it gets. For lack of other words, this series is my ride or die bish. ✨
I am involved in cryptocurrency since 2022 and every time I use vps plan https://myforexvps.com/forex-vps-hosting/ which is very effective in such tasks. Have you heard about such services? How often do you use them? It will be interesting to know. I think vps is necessary in this field for data security.
Hi, I love you book reviews and noticed that you said you wanted a book more about the Darkling from the Grisha Verse, Shadow and Bone Series. Leigh Bardugo released a book, well graphic novel, a couple of month ago and it's about the Darkling growing up. It's called The Demon in The Wood and it's really good. If you haven't read it yet I highly suggest it! 😁
